The term “antibiotic” is known practically to all of us. When we have got a bacterial infection we take antibiotic products to cure the disease. So do you understand what antibiotic products represent? They are chemicals got from microorganisms and applied to kill bacteria or slow down their growth. The first antibiotic medication, Penicillin, in 1928 by Alexander Fleming, and its creation marked a new stage in the history of medicine. Apart from penicillin-based antibiotic medications there is a list of other antibiotic products produced by different species of bacteria. All the antibiotic medications are different in action and are used for various purposes. That's why you should never try to select an antibiotic medicine by yourself. It is physicians' prerogative, don't interfere in their scope of activity. You should also note that antibiotics are effective only against bacterial infections, but not virus ones. Antibiotic products are very strong medical products that is why they should be used only according to the physician's prescription. In case a certain antibiotic drug was prescribed to your friend or relative and helped him it doesn't signify that it'll be efficient for you. It is highly possible that it won't bring positive results, it may even harm. Antibiotic medical products have quite serious side-effects, that is the reason why you should follow the recommendations of your physician on account of the type of antibiotics and the duration of their use. Though it is difficult to overestimate the value of antibiotic medical products in the modern medicine you should understand that they are still medical products and have some side-actions. Be prepared to be faced with such problems as diarrhea and vomiting. Don't forget to tell your physician about allergies you have or used to have as some antibiotics may evoke allergic reaction such as face swelling, itching or skin rash. If the use of the antibiotic product causes non-standard reaction, stop its use and consult your doctor asap. Take care of your health as your future depends on it. Stay in good health! |
