Recently thousands of males and females have been interviewed about the most annoying beauty calamities, and most respondents named acne the most annoying problem. Acne, though mostly affecting teens, may occur at any age. Acne can happen on the face, neck and back. How to cure? At first, try over-the-counter acne solutions containing salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide. Benzoyl peroxide is the most frequently used acne solution and is regarded as one of the most efficient ones in the market. If you are suffering from mild non-inflammatory cases of acne, benzoyl peroxide is considered to be exceedingly potent. Because it is safe for application on both grown-ups and kids, it is preferred to other acne treatments. Yet, there are a few minor side effects. It can lead to dry skin. If you feel too much dryness, stop applying the treatment for a while and then, administering a lower concentration of benzoyl peroxide, try again. Salicylic acid works best of all on non-inflamed forms of acne and it begins by removing the dead skin, thereby keeping the pores of the skin clean and precluding plugging. When nothing plugs the pores, your chances of getting pimples and blackheads fall drastically. The side effect of this acne solution is that it can trigger skin irritation. Patients have complained of dryness, stinging or burning feeling, and flaking and peeling of the skin. If there is no improvement in treating acne after a few weeks, talk to your family physician about prescription acne solutions, such as antibiotics, retinoids and adapalene (Differin). Antibiotics prevent bacteria from growing and spreading in the body. Although they show results faster, antibiotics are frequently not preferred by patients, as they bring on side effects, such as upset stomach, discoloration of the skin, dizziness and sensitivity to light. If your skin is severely affected by cysts, your doctor may prescribe isotretinoin (Accutane) or may refer you to a specialist. Since dangerous side effects are possible, males and females taking Accutane should be cautiously observed by their doctors. Laser or light therapy may be used if other acne solutions appear ineffective. Take the chance to have a pour radiant skin! |
